A report from the One Ocean conference

Between 03 and 06 June 2025, iMagine was featured during the One Ocean Conference in Nice.
With over 2,000 participants, One Ocean is the scientific pillar congress preceding the Third United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3). Its objective was to provide Heads of State and Government and society at large with a comprehensive understanding of the health and future trajectory of the ocean, its conservation and sustainable use, and the benefits it provides to humanity.
In particular, the programme featured a presentation from the PhD student Louise Laux about the "Long-term monitoring of zooplankton diversity in the Mediterranean Sea in a context of climate change over 55 years".
Thanks to the work done in iMagine in the framework of the ZooScan Use Case, the team from the Laboratoire d'Océanographie de Villefranche, at Sorbonne Université, was able to acquire and automatically process nearly a thousand plankton samples collected over 55 years at a coastal site in the Mediterranean Sea. They demonstrate that, in the context of climate change, zooplankton concentration has been decreasing over the last 25 years.
